How are you enjoying all this bonus family time? I thought I would try to be helpful and share 20 Family Friendly Movies and Snack Ideas. My kids love to have family movie night. We usually do it on Fridays and have pizza for dinner. With all this “at home” time we are having movie nights more frequently and getting creative with snacks.
Here is a list of our favorite movies and some ideas and recipes for snacks that you can make with ingredients from your pantry and freezer.
I have linked the movies to Amazon Prime. They are all available there for between 2.99 and 3.99 to rent. I Am an amazon affiliate and will receive a small percentage if you rent them from these links. Check Netflix before you rent on Prime to see if they are on there and you could watch them for free (if you have a membership). I have German Netflix so what is available here will be different than what is available in the states.

Snack Ideas
Some of these ideas are things that aren’t on my blog. I will list them first and then put up links for snack/treat recipes that are on my site.
Stove Popped Popcorn: Once you have it popped, add melted butter and then topping of your choice: ranch powder, old bay, taco seasoning packet, macaroni and cheese packet, Parmesan cheese, or just regular salt.
Snack Tray: Give everyone a muffin tin or plate with dividers and put a little bit of a few different things in it. Cereal, pretzels, chocolate chips, craisins, fruit snacks, crackers, marshmallows. Anything small. This is a great way to use up the last bits in different packages.
Special Candy: If you were able to stock up on candy before all the craziness pull out a bag of candy and divide it between everyone. Or give them a few pieces…depending on how big the package is. 🙂
Fried Cheerios: This might sound crazy, but fried Cheerios are so delicious. When I was younger sometimes my mom would let us do this on a Sunday afternoon. You put a few tbsp of butter in the bottom of a frying pan and let it melt. Then pour in about two cups of Cheerios. Stir it around to get butter on all of the Cheerios. Sprinkle with salt and keep frying until the Cheerios brown a little. So good!
White Chocolate Popcorn: Got some microwave popcorn on hand? Pop it up and then drizzle it with melted white chocolate. Let it cool/dry and you will be shocked at what a delicious treat it is. Add food coloring to make it green and eat it with The Wizard of Oz.
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels: Let the kids dip pretzels in chocolate earlier in the day and save them for a treat for movie night.
Milk Shakes: Got a few random ice cream cartons that just have a little bit of ice cream in them? Make a shake with it. If it’s vanilla add in some Oreos or anything else you might have on hand. This would be great for Cool Runnings.
Nachos: Who doesn’t love nachos? Melt some cheese on some chips and dig in. You can do this on a plate in the microwave or make a big batch in the oven. Nachos remind me of watching sports so Rudy or The Sandlot would be a good one for this.
