This post is a list of my favorite recipes for Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Dinner.
For Christmas Eve we actually don’t really do “Dinner.” A few years back I realized that even with my love for cooking, having a big breakfast and a big dinner on Christmas was way more work then I wanted to do on such a special holiday. I didn’t want to give up having a big breakfast though. I started making a big breakfast for dinner on Christmas Eve, and a new tradition was born.
It’s so fun. We go all out with all of our favorite breakfast things. Bacon, Biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and some kind of eggs. For “dessert” we have waffles or crepes with whipping cream and berries. My kids love it!
The other half of the breakfast for dinner tradition is opening one present (which is always jammies and their favorite cereal). That way they are excited to eat their new cereal for breakfast and I don’t have to cook in the morning. It’s so great.
Below I will list some great breakfast recipes you can choose from if you want to start a similar tradition for Christmas Eve and below that I will post my favorite recipes for Christmas Dinner. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
**PS-If you’re wondering what I am making this year:
For Christmas Eve: I’m making: Biscuits and Gravy, Bacon, Scrambled Eggs with cheese, Hash browns, orange juice and for dessert, I think I am going to break with the traditional waffles with whipped cream and berries and do the gingerbread waffles with whip cream and bananas, cause THEY ARE SO GOOD!
For Christmas Day: I am making the Holiday Ham, Funeral Potatoes, Best Ever Green Beans, Lion House Rolls, Christmas Jello Salad and the Cranberry Fluff, (even though two jello salads is over kill, I simply must have that Cranberry Fluff again) Layered Salad and the Sparkling Cucumber Lime-aid.
