Dark Chocolate Walnut Berry Snack Mix

Dark-Chocolate-Walnut-Berry-Snack-Mix-3Did you know that there are foods that can help you fight and prevent Alzheimer’s Disease? There are, and this Dark Chocolate Walnut Berry Snack Mix is one of them.

Besides fighting Alzheimer’s it’s also a delicious snack that can curb cravings and satiate that need for a treat around 3:30 in the afternoon. But it is a bonus to know that eating a handful a day can help keep Alzheimer’s away, especially because of my family history with Alzheimer’s.

Dark-Chocolate-Walnut-Berry-Snack-Mix-3Both my, paternal and maternal grandmothers suffered from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. This fact makes the possibility of me getting it higher than I like to admit.

Not having a great memory in the first place, as well as being diagnosed with Adult ADD (a fact that is in research as to whether or not people with ADHD/ADD are more likely to get Alzheimer’s) has me on the lookout for information on what might help prevent the disease.

Most of the articles claim that food high in Omega 3’s and Antioxidants are the most helpful. The reason they are helpful is they basically clean up the bad proteins that can build up in the brain.

Dark-Chocolate-Walnut-Berry-Snack-Mix-3I like to think that I eat pretty healthy, but seeing the list of foods that can help prevent Alzheimer’s has made me want to be more consistent and intentional about getting these good foods into my body.

I recently wrote a post that details the simple ways I’m working to get these foods into my body. With my family history I feel it’s important that I make a conscious effort at keeping those bad proteins out of my brain.

Which by the way, another important piece of not letting them get built up is getting enough sleep. Something else, I’m trying really hard to make a priority.

Anywho, whether you are worried about Alzheimer’s and want to get more Omega 3’s and Antioxidants in your body, or if you just want a healthy, filling snack. This Dark Chocolate Walnut Berry Snack Mix is perfect and so easy to keep on hand.

Dark-Chocolate-Walnut-Berry-Snack-Mix-3All I do is by a bag of walnuts. A really dark chocolate bar and some dried berries. Mix them all together and keep them in a large Ziploc bag or you can take it a step further and put 1/4 cup into some little snack size Ziploc’s.

Dark-Chocolate-Walnut-Berry-Snack-Mix-3May your Memory be lasting and Bright! Happy New Year!
