Author: Maria
Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
8 oz button mushrooms, chopped tiny to hide from kids or sliced if you prefer
1 medium onion
1 large garlic clove
1½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
⅓ cup all-purpose flour
2-3 cups milk
1-2 tsp beef bouillon
3 tbsp sour cream
2 tsp ketchup
1 16oz package of egg noodles, cooked
Instructions
Over medium-high heat, brown the beef with the onion, mushroom, and garlic until beef is fully cooked and onions are translucent. Add 1½ tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper to mixture while it's cooking.
Next, sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir until completely combined. Quickly stir in the milk. I start by adding 2 cups and reserve the third cup to add as needed when the mixture is thickening.
Once mixture has begun to thicken, reduce heat to medium-low and allow stroganoff to simmer for 10-15 minutes. (As I said, you can add milk during this process if it appears to be getting too thick for your liking.) You can also add 1-2 tsp of beef bouillon to taste at this point.
Once stroganoff has simmered for 10-15 minutes, add in 3 tbsp of sour cream and 2 tsp ketchup. Mix well. Taste stroganoff and adjust salt, pepper, or beef bouillon according to your taste preference.
Serve over cooked egg noodles and enjoy!
