Chewy buttery bars sprinkled with a cinnamon-sugar coating and baked to perfection. All the flavor and texture of a Snickerdoodle cookie minus all the work.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup shortening (butter flavored or regular)
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1½ tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 3 tbsp granulated sugar and 1 tbsp ground cinnamon.
  3. Next, butter a 9x13 baking dish and sprinkle some of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
  4. In a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla and mix thoroughly.
  6. Next, add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Press the dough evenly into the prepared 9x13 pan, and then generously sprinkle the remainder of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top of the dough.
  8. Place the bars in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 25-28 minutes.
  9. Let the bars cool on a cooling rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  10. Cookies will stay good in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week and six months in the freezer.
