How to Make Rice on the Stovetop

Serves: 6 cups
- 2 cups regular, white long-grain rice
- 4 cups water
- A dollop of olive oil or a pat of butter
- Salt, a few shakes
- Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer.
- Next, in a 2-quart saucepan, bring to a boil the rinsed rice, water, olive oil or butter, and salt.
- Turn the heat down to low, place the lid on the pot, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Take off the heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes to finish absorbing any liquid.
- When ready to serve, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
- Store leftover rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
