The caramelized onions simmer in a white sauce made of chicken broth and heavy whipping cream. The end result is fantastic and the perfect accompaniment for turkey.

Ingredients
3 medium onions, halved and sliced
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
salt and pepper
2-3 cups chicken broth or turkey stock
½ cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup shredded cheese
parsley for garnish, optional
Instructions
In a large saute pan. Saute onions in the butter over medium high heat until onions are starting to caramelize.
Add flour and give a good stir until it is coating the onions.
Stir quickly as you add chicken broth ½ cup at a time, add two cups of broth and then add the cream. If still very thick, add more broth until it is the consistency of a thick gravy.
Turn down to a simmer and let simmer until onions are completely cooked.
Pour onion mixture into a 8x8 or 9x9 baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
If desired you can sprinkle it with fresh or dried parsley when it comes out of the oven.
