Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Serves: 6-8
  • 2-3 lbs of beef stew meat cut into 1 inch pieces.
  • 4 large red or russet potatoes cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 3-5 large carrots peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 stalks of celery cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic, about 1-2 cloves
  • ⅓ cup flour
  • 1¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1½ tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup water
  1. Place the 2-3 pounds of beef pieces into the slow cooker. Sprinkle with flour, salt, paprika and pepper. Stir until all pieces are coated.
  2. Add the potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth and water. Stir gently.
  3. Next, place lid on slow cooker and turn to high for 4 hours or low for 6-8.
  4. If you choose to add peas, wait to add them until the 3 hour mark if cooking on high or the 4-6 hour mark if cooking on low.
  5. Stew is done when meat is cooked through and veggies are fork tender.
