These Knockoff Swig Sugar Cookies are fantastic! Almost everyone one who tastes these cookies, dubbs them THE BEST SUGAR COOKIE THEY HAVE EVER HAD. I have to agree. I like them so much I made a Swig Sugar Cookie Bar Recipe. It is awesome because it is so quick and easy to make the bars instead of taking the time to form and frost the individual cookies.
These sugar cookies are a knockoff of a cookie you can get at a drink place in the west. I have never been there but found a recipe for them and decided to try it. The recipe had cream-of-tartar in it, and I don’t usually keep that on hand. So I made a minor adjustment to the recipe, and they turned out amazing!

Tips for making Knockoff Swig Sugar Cookies
- You can make dough balls with your hands if you don’t have a cookie scoop. Shape and roll the dough into the size of golf balls.
- Spray the bottom of the glass cup with cooking spray for the first dip so the sugar will stick to it.
- When pressing the glass onto the dough balls, don’t press them too thin. You want the thickness to be 1/4- 1/2-inch thick.
- Make sure not to overbake the cookies, or they will turn out dry and crumbly.

Candy Perfect for Christmastime

My daughters are constantly talking about how amazing these cookies are in Utah! I haven’t personally ever tried them, since I live in Switzerland at the moment but I am really excited to give these a try. Powdered sugar here is super grainy and doesn’t make a smooth frosting so I think I will try to Nutrabullet it and add a bit of cornstarch. My personal favorite cookie has always been the sugar cookies that my father, a professional German baker, used to make and sell at Allen’s Supersave market in Orem. He always surprised my school class on my birthday, which was close to Valentine’s day, with huge heart sugar cookies with the most amazing smooth red glaze. He even personalized every cookie with the name of my classmates. For a shy and unpopular girl such as me, it was amazing to be the hit once a year. Thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
