Tips for making Old Fashioned Apple Crisp

  • I like to use Granny Smith apples in this recipe, but a combination of Granny Smith and another variety of apples will also taste good.
  • To cut down on the preparation, use an apple peeler and corer to prepare the apples.
  • Instead of using your hands to mix up the topping, you can use a pastry cutter.
  • If using ramekins as the baking dish for this recipe, divide the apple mixture among 6 (6 ounce) ramekins, scatter the topping evenly over the apples in each dish, place the ramekins on a cookie sheet, and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and apples are tender.
  • Serve with a scoop of ice cream or homemade whipped topping.
