I used to be able to pass by a pulled pork sandwich without many temptations. Then my friend, Jamie, introduced me to this recipe, Pulled Pork with Easy Homemade BBQ Sauce. Now I have the opposite problem… I eat three sandwiches in one sitting. 🙂 If you are a fan of BBQ, also try these Slow Cooker Fall Off the Bone Pork Ribs.
I LOVE the flavor of this homemade BBQ sauce. It’s not as sweet as most pulled pork recipes, and it doesn’t have the extreme tangy-ness that can sometimes be a major component in BBQ. It’s so simple, too…nothing exotic in the sauce. You’ve probably got everything it calls for on hand right now!

It has lemon juice instead of vinegar as the acid, and I think that is the difference that I like so much. It is FANTASTIC!!!! Eaten on one of my Easy Homemade Hard Rolls (slightly toasted) makes it a little piece of heaven.
I also love the consistency of the meat and the sauce together. It is not soupy at all, so your bun doesn’t become a soggy mess when you are eating it.
how to make pulled pork with easy homemade bbq sauce
- Cook meat in a crockpot or in a covered pan in the oven until meat shreds easily.Â
- When the meat is cooked and shredded, keep it covered and warm while you prepare the sauce.
- In a saucepan, saute onion, celery, and carrot in butter until onions are tender.
- Add all other ingredients and bring to a simmer. Simmer for at least 10 minutes.
- Pour sauce over meat and stir until all of the meat is coated.
- Serve on your favorite rolls.
I’m hooked! You will be, too! I hope you love this as much as I do! It’s SOOOOO delicious!

- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp prepared mustard
- ½ tsp ground pepper
- ½ tsp chili powder
- Cook meat in a crockpot or in a covered pan in the oven until meat shreds easily.
- When the meat is cooked and shredded, keep it covered and warm while you prepare the sauce.
- In a saucepan, saute onion, celery, and carrot in butter until onions are tender.
- Add all other ingredients and bring to a simmer.
- Simmer for at least 10 minutes.
- Pour sauce over meat and stir until all of the meat is coated.
- Serve on your favorite rolls.

I wupas excited when I saw that your sauce was homemade – because all the other ones I found have ketchup in them. Oops! So does yours. In my book, that disqualifies it from being homemade unless you made the ketchup

I gave my family 3 recipe options from your blog that I had written down. This is what they chose and was shocked when they actually loved it so much thet asked for seconds. They are all 3 such picky eaters. My 4 yr old literally licked her plate clean. Haha. 5 stars for sure.

HA! That’s awesome! I am soooo happy that you made this. I feel like it doesn’t get the love it deserves. Such a unique barbecue flavor that is perfect on pulled pork. Seriously makes my day that you made this and your family loved it.
