It was cold, wet and dreary here today. I had to drag the kids around on a couple errands this morning but compared to the rest of our week we had very little that we HAD to do today so that was exciting. Last night I made big plans of all the things I was going to do around the house.
Like clear off the piano…..and every other surface in my house, clean the fridge, paint the chairs that are still in the garage, and do laundry.
Despite the funk the weather put me in today I did actually accomplish cleaning the fridge (with lots of help from my friend Trever) and I did almost all of the laundry.
I also spent a good portion my day trying to keep Trever alive. He is quite the climber these days and his favorite spot is the large bay window in the living room. He is going to biff it one of these days.
I even made dinner although I really didn’t want to. I went to get everything out for the Stuffed Pepper Soup I had planned to make and saw a lonely cabbage I had forgotten about, I decided to make Cabbage Roll Soup instead which is basically the same, just with cabbage instead of peppers.
It was a hit. All the kids ate it, Conner asked for seconds and Sim kept saying, “This is so good. I mean like really dang good.” I tried not to be offended and after the fifth time he said it, I gave him dagger eyes and said, “You’re going to need to stop being so surprised that this is delicious if you ever want me to cook for you again.” Like I said, I was in a bit of a funk today, and by funk I mean bad mood.
It was really good though. Even I was thinking Wow! This turned out awesome.
I made everyone wait to eat while I snapped a quick picture so I can post the recipe and then we gobbled it up. It seems like we have been on a roll with breaking at least one bowl a week lately, so this is our fancy soupware.
Considering my foul mood I am proud of myself for making the effort to clean the fridge and do the laundry. I really just wanted to crawl in bed and watch Netflix, which I may have done during nap time. (It had been a LOOONNG time since I had cleaned the fridge as you can see in these pictures)
The cold, yucky weather seemed to have the oppisite effect on Thatcher as it did on me. He was happy as a clam and begged to go out and ride his bike in the rain.
Charlotte was loving it that mom let her watch Ipad most of the afternoon.
After dinner we all got in the car and dad took the kids to the library while I ran to Walmart to stock up on water and butane. Hurricane Joaquin is headed our way and we want to be prepared just in case we lose power or anything.
I may or may not have spent as much money on chocolate and Playdough/crafts for the kids as I did on water and butane….it could get pretty interesting around here if we loose power and I’m going to need some good treats to eat when I go hide in my closet.
Keep it Real!
P.S. One of my favorite things that happened tonight was on our way home from the Library/Walmart adventure. Sim was telling me how well-behaved the kids had been in the library and I said, “Awesome.” Which threw Sim into the Lego Song, Everything is Awesome, except he changed the words to, “Our kids are so awesome. Our kids are so good at the Library, Our kids are so Awesome, That I’ll take ’em again.” As he was singing I hear Conner’s voice, very serious from the backseat say, “Sometimes I wish the Lego Movie had never been made.” Bwahahahaha. It was hilarious.
