Sometimes the Thursday Night Post turns into the Friday Morning Post because sometimes I’m just tired and don’t want to type after the kids go to bed. Netflix wins again.
Actually, I did plan on typing the post up last night, but after we got the kids to bed I remembered I needed to run to Target and get a few last minute Easter things before we head to Upstate New York to spend Easter Weekend with family. What was supposed to only take 20 minutes took over an hour…..because, lets face it, Target is a black hole in disguise.
When I got home I was too tired to type so I started watching an episode of When Calls the Heart on Netflix and then I remembered I needed to call my sister (who is moving near us) with some info about rentals and commute stuff. So by the time I finished talking to here it was almost midnight. So basically, I woke up this morning (to the sound of my toddler jumping and yelling in his crib) and hated myself for staying up so late….story of my life.
Back to yesterday…Yesterday was a beautiful day here. It was in the 70’s and perfect. We went to an Easter Egg Hunt that some friends had organized and had a great time.
The kids were so funny, on the way to the Easter Egg Hunt they told me they were only going to eat a little bit of their candy and save the rest for our drive to Aunt Merry’s. HA!
That didn’t happen. Charlotte was the only one who had any candy left when we got home and while she was having her nap and I was working on the computer I heard some wrapper sounds coming from the kitchen. Thatcher the snatcher was in the kitchen finishing off her last two Starbursts. As you might guess that didn’t go over very well when a little girl woke up from nap.
Because it was so nice, we spent a lot of our day outside. I found an old Tee and bat and Trever was so happy! He hit it over and over. When he got tired of that I brought a snack out for him and strapped him into the stroller. Of course everyone else wanted a snack when they saw his and of course they also wanted to sit in a stroller.
After snack Trever moved on to terrorizing everyone in the sandbox so I put him in baby seat on the back of my bike and did about 300 laps around the cul-de-sac while we waited for daddy to get home.
During the 300 laps Thatcher was begging me to play basketball with him. Conner was hammering things that he found in the recycling bin and Charlotte was…I don’t actually know where Charlotte was. Oh wait, yes I do. She was in and out of the house bringing out dishes and any kind of food she could reach and offering it to everyone for a snack.
For dinner we had leftover Hawaiin Haystacks from last night. I didn’t feel like cutting up all the fixings for them again, so we made do with what we had. Celery, green onion, chow mein noodles, and I opened a can of manderin oranges because I only had crushed pineapple in the pantry.
I love Hawaiin Haystacks, I could eat them every day.
After dinner dad had a meeting so I told the kids if we could get the whole upstairs clean and then dished done in 25 minutes we could go to the local dairy, ice cream place. It has a nice big grassy area for kids to run and play so they were excited.
They did get it done, thanks mostly to Conner. Thatcher got a bloody nose half way through the cleaning and Conner really picked up the slack….not exactly happily though….I mean he is nine, there was a fair amount of eye rolling involved and a, “Mom, I’m pretty sure he gave himself a bloody nose on purpose.”
Once he got his big cup of Cookies and Cream he seemed to be over it. Both ice cream in the picture may or may not have been mine.
At the ice cream place there were a couple little girls, probably 9 or 10 running and doing back hand springs and back flips, Some teenagers at a nearby table were commenting on their tricks and cheering when they did the flips. Charlotte was super impressed, before I knew it she was on the ground doing her best front rolls and running around jumping and spinning. She cracks me up!
Keep it Real!!!
–In other news I finally found a great way to keep a busy toddler entertained. An electric pencil sharpener and an endless supply of pencils. This kid loves sharpening pencils and begs me to put the sharpener down where he can reach it. So, if you’re in need of a sharp pencil, come on over we have LOTS!!!
