I had a busy and full day today. It started with getting the kids off to school. I let the boys sleep in a little bit, so I allowed them skip practicing the piano this morning. They were happy.
After getting them off to school, I went to the gym and did the barre class that my friend from church teaches. It was awesome, super challenging…like I thought my legs were going to fall off at times, but I can’t wait to go back next week.
I had to hurry home from the gym and quickly shower before meeting Sim at the school for Thatcher’s IEP Evaluation meeting.
It was such a great experience, I came away feeling like we are all on the same page and I am so grateful that I have these excellent teachers and faculty members to work with. Thatcher is going to have some extensive testing done and we will come back together in November to adjust his IEP to any new needs he may have.
My sister was with the kids and Sim was already playing hooky from work, so we decided to have a quick lunch date. We went to the nearest Chinese Restaurant. Not my first choice, but we didn’t really have time to be picky. It was good though, I was just craving Mexican,
I got back home in time to put the little ones down for a nap (once I washed the sand off them) and straighten up a little bit before my friend Nichole came over to have a little meeting. She is my virtual assistant and does all my Pin scheduling and helps me format my newsletters. She is the best and I don’t know what I would do without her. She does all the stuff that stresses me out.
After Nichole left, Charlotte and Trever woke up. I needed to start preparing things for dinner, because we had some special guest coming. I let them watch a show in the basement. Charlotte was less than thrilled that I let Trever pick the show first. He chose Mighty Machines. And I’m over here just happy as can be that the boy will actually sit through a whole episode of something. YAY!!!! FINALLY!!!
I think it’s cute that they choose to sit by each other even when there is a whole couch available. This picture looks like they are mad at each other or something, but they aren’t. Charlotte wanted to lay her head down, so as soon as she did, Trever had to follow suit. *Also, notice that he is eating his blanket. He does that all the time. It must taste delicious.
The boys got home and then shortly after our friends arrived. YAY! Becky is one of my favorite friends from New Jersey and she has to drop her daughter Melissa off at the Baltimore Airport tomorrow morning, super early, so I convinced her she should stop here and see. I even let her request whatever she wanted for dinner.
She chose this marinated chicken that she remembers having on a youth trip I made food for once.
I was a little worried about how it would turn out because we don’t have an outdoor grill so I cooked it inside in my Pampered Chef Grill Pan. It worked great. Super moist and delicious.
I served it with baked potatoes, green beans and watermelon and then we had peach crisp and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Sim and Thatcher had to leave before dinner was ready for soccer practice.
Everyone loved dinner. Especially Charlotte. She kept asking how many pieces of chicken she could have. Charlotte and Trever also, super de duper loved dessert. They both had two helpings.
Maybe all that extra sugar is why they got so silly….or Maybe they just LOVE Melissa.
Either way, they were on one tonight. It all started when Trever started playing hide n seek from accross the table with Melissa. He thought it was hilarious. Charlotte soon joined in.
Then the game turned to something different. I still don’t know what they were doing but they thought it was so funny. They would run around the table to Melissa with their hands in their mouth and then tell her to frown. When she would, they would break out in hysterics and run back to their side of the table. This went on for quite some time. #crazykids
When Sim got home we three ladies went out and got an Italian Ice at Rita’s. Not so much because we needed a treat. But because we wanted some peace and quiet. By the time we got back, Sim had the kids in bed. He’s the best! Charlotte was still awake, and snuck out to ask me to come lay by her for a minute. I did, and then I came out to get started on some stuff I needed to get on the computer tonight.
One thing I needed to do was to complete three “Scales” (question-ares to help them better assess Thatcher’s needs through the testing they will be administering). I thought this would be a quick endeavor that I could do quickly before writing this post and going to bed. Not so much. The “Scales” were made up of many questions. The first one had 200 questions and the other two had 100 each.
Glad that’s done.
Lucky for me tomorrow is not quite as hectic as today was.
P.S. If you haven’t tried this yogurt you should. Greek yogurt has always been hard for me to swallow. But I am so excited because this brand is awesome and taste so much better than most greek yogurt and the nuts in there add such a great crunch. It’s my new favorite afternoon snack.
Keep it Real!!
