If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
Brrrrrr. It’s so cold! Cold snowy days typically make me do one of two things. Bake like a mad man or sit on the couch all day under a blanket watching Netflix.
Today fell under the later category. I had to leave the house to take Charlotte to and from preschool, but other than that it was pretty much me and the couch and Netflix with a little mothering as needed.
Not that I didn’t have a million other things I should have been doing……this shot of my kitchen counter is a pretty good representation of what the rest of my house looks like right now.
Today would have been a great day to get it in tip top shape, but the combination of the snow and cold hypnotizing me and Trever waking up six, yes, six times last night made for a very lazy Maria today.
In fact, I was so lazy I didn’t even want to make lunch today. I made an executive decision on the way home from preschool to pick up some lunch for Charlotte and I. I saved mine for after I got the kids down for nap so I could eat it while I……wait for it……..watched Netflix.
Tonight I was supposed to make Stuffed Pepper Skillet, then I remembered Pizza Hut has a great on-line pizza special right now, I talked Sim into ordering pizza.
I pushed a few things out of the way on the counter so we had somewhere to sit it down.
We have a busy weekend so since we had pizza for dinner we figured we might as well have a movie night. Dad picked The Muppet’s Christmas Carol. It’s cuter then I remember it being when I was a kid. All this time I thought I hated the Muppet’s.
Conner loved it and was the only kid who stayed interested in the movie the whole time. Dad spent the last thirty minutes being a jungle gym for the three youngest.
In other news, Charlotte gets to sport an eye patch for 2-3 hours a day now. She super loves it…. NOT!!! She is doing better then I expected, I’ll give her that. But she just needs to make sure we know how upset she is about it at least every five minutes or so while she is wearing it.
I’m sure it will get better, I am just glad she isn’t picking at it and trying to take it off.
At her appointment yesterday it was the first time she has been old enough for them to test her vision by putting pictures she can name up on the wall.
I was shocked at how bad her vision is in her bad eye. I am not sure what I thought, I guess I thought she could still see out of it and that the glasses and other things we have been doing were to just get it looking straight.
I was wrong. She could see objects the size of a credit card on the wall with her good eye, but couldn’t make out the same objects blown up to the size of an 8×11 sheet of paper with her bad eye.
Poor girl, I hope patching works. I really want to get this fixed while she is young.
Enjoy the Holiday Season and staying warm!
Keep it Real!!!

**UPDATE: I was just about to hit publish when I heard Conner fidgeting around upstairs (he is supposed to be asleep.) He comes down stairs with a book in his hands and tells me his teacher let him borrow this book because he told her that we sometimes have problems with this. When I saw what book it was I started laughing so hard I almost died. This kid kills me!!!
I’ll be looking forward to a call from his teacher……
