If you are new to Real Life Dinner, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what the heck’s going on around here. If you have been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
This picture has nothing to do with this post, I just thought you might want to know what homework time looks like around here.
What a week! What a month!
Besides sharing what we eat for dinner every Thursday I like to use this post as an opportunity to give you a glimpse into our life. Not because it’s special or wonderful, but because I think it probably looks similar to yours and I hope that seeing my messy house or crazy kids will help you feel validated in the ups and downs you face, knowing that there is a crazy girl who loves food out there having the same experiences you are.
Each Thursday I think back on the day and week to decide what part of my day or week I should share. I don’t want to bore you with a novel each Thursday, so I try to limit it to one or two things you might find interesting or relate to.
This month there have been so many crazy things happen to our family that I haven’t even shared half of them. Besides the fact that it would take a novel to write them all down, I get worried you guys are going to think I am making this stuff up. Seriously, it has been that crazy and dramatic around here. This last issue really takes the cake!
Because of the sensitive nature of the latest issue we have faced, I can’t even share it here on the blog. Maybe in a few months when things have died down I will write a post about it. That is if I don’t actually wake up and find out it was all just a really really bad dream…I am still hoping for that.
The same day the incident referred to above happened, two of my kids came down with the stomach flu (my least favorite thing ever). Ironically it didn’t seem that bad after what else I had faced that day. (Apparently we haven’t been drinking enough grape juice.)
Yesterday we found out the clutch in Sim’s work car that we had replaced in the end of January is going to have to be replaced again. (It’s under warranty) but it’s still annoying to work out only having one car for 3-4 days.
And today my husband got a flat tire on the way home from work and because of the extreme cold this winter all of the tires are weather checked and all four tires need replaced. Sweet!
Has someone put a curse on our family?????
I have noticed a pattern in my life. Usually this much craziness and stress means there is something really good right around the corner, all I can say is whatever is coming must be AMAZING!
I will let you know when we win the lotto!
Even though this week has seriously been a nightmare. The few people who know what happened have rallied around us and supported us! Just tonight as I was making dinner I got a knock at the door from a sweet friend who brought over a delicious chicken pot pie, salad and yummy chocolate dipped fruit. It was so kind of her! And just so you know, chocolate dipped strawberries and pineapple can make even really horrible things seem not so bad for a minute.
I had actually already made a quick dinner, since we had a busy night and needed to go in two different directions with kids in different events, but we ate hers and saved mine for tomorrow.
Here’s to a much more upbeat post next week!
Keep it Real!
