If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
I’ve been enjoying this break from school so much, no rush in the mornings, no homework and no reason to get out of our pajama’s….it’s the best!
The days are starting to all mix together though. I almost forgot today was Thursday. Conner reminded me at dinner because he wanted to take the pictures of dinner. Good thing someone is keeping track of things around here.
I used my new thermal cooker to make dinner tonight. I used it on Tuesday too. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! It is so AWESOME!!!!
Tonight we had Teriyaki Chicken and Brown Rice. Monday I used it to make Hawaiian Haystack Gravy and Rice.
Have you ever seen Thermal Cookers before? I never had until this summer when I saw one demonstrated at a Emergency Preparedness meeting I went to with my sister-in-law at her church.
Not only are they amazing for cooking when you don’t have electricity. They’re perfect for camping, road trips, and everyday cooking. You only need to boil things for 2-6 minutes and then pop them in the thermal cooker and viola, 6-8 hours later dinner is perfectly cooked and ready to eat.
It’s basically magic.
The other awesome thing about them is that they can also keep things cold for hours. So if you have to take potato salad to a potluck. Just take it out of the fridge and put it right into the thermal cooker and viola, your salad will be nice and cold at your picnic. NO cooler needed.
Can you tell I am a big fan. I should seriously work for these people.
Monday when I used it for dinner we had the missionaries over and by the time they left one of them had taken down all the information because he wants to buy one so bad. Smart guy!
Anywho, in other news the kids have been loving their break. I have been letting them do whatever they want to do as long as they help me with a job or two in the morning. That translates to them playing a lot of Skylander on the x-box, reading new books, watching new movies and occasionally going outside.
Dad is going to get their new basketball hoop shoot game thing up tonight so I’m sure that’ll be how they spend most of tomorrow.
I really wanted to go see the new Annie movie today with the two older kids during nap time, but they talked me into going to Big Hero Six. It was cute, but the villain’s mask was super scary.
I’m still dying to see Annie, I’ve heard it’s really good.
So, even though we’ve already had dinner tonight, I just couldn’t pass up the buy one smothered burrito get one free Qdoba has going on today, so I took Charlotte for a little ride and got some. I told Charlotte they were for Daddy’s lunch tomorrow. (wink wink)
That was a lie. Sim and I are going to have a little movie date tonight and eat them…….just as soon as I finish posting this. YUM!
Here’s hoping 2015 is a great year. I’m going to try and get some goals written out this weekend! I’ve n ever been very good at following through with goals but I’m going to try a new strategy this year and I’m hoping it’ll keep me more focused.
Keep it Real!!!

I got a thermal cooker last year for Christmas and haven’t touched it yet. You’ve inspired me, I’m pulling it out tomorrow!!

I love it and I love that I can practice and get good results so that when there really is an emergency or we want to use it for trips, I will know what I am doing.
