If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
As you can see I used my Thermal Cooker again. Love that thing! We had Slow Cooker Pineapple Salsa Chicken over rice.
It’s one of our favorite meals and it works perfectly in the thermal cooker. Have I mentioned that I am so happy with my Thermal Cooker. It makes me feel like a magician or something.
Did you notice the pouty kid in the background of the dinner picture? Poor Thatch was having a rough night.
Despite the frigid temperature the boys played outside for about an hour after school. The fun ended for Thatcher when a misfired snowball hit him in the forehead instead of the chest (where his brother was aiming.)
Conner had come in to inform us that Thatcher was hurt and that somehow the hard snowball Conner threw had hit Thatcher in the face and not the chest where he was aiming……I’ve seen that kid play sports, I know exactly how it somehow hit him in the head instead of the chest. Anywho, Thatcher was sitting there in the snow sobbing, with red cheeks, looking very dejected.
If we asked him if he was okay he would say no. If we asked if he wanted to come in he would say no to that too. “Hmm, we have a problem then because, as fun as it is to stand out here in the cold and watch you cry, We’re going to have to go in now….Do you want to come in and have some hot chocolate?”
That got him moving.
He came in and had a nice cup of cocoa. Half way through drinking it he decided it was too hot and he should go play until it cooled off. Right, gotcha….good plan.
A few minutes later we called the boys in for dinner, the next thing I know, Thatcher is having a total meltdown….apparently Dad took a good size sip of his cocoa while he was out playing and boy was Thatcher upset about it.
Way more upset then even the biggest hot cocoa fan should ever be about a sip of hot cocoa being stolen from them.
As luck would have it, that was my last hot cocoa packet and with dinner waiting for us on the table I wasn’t about to whip up a homemade batch. Finally I convinced him to let me put a little more milk in it and it would be fine.
After tasting it, he informed me (in his whiny meltdown voice) that it tasted “different,”
“Sorry pal, that’s the best we can do tonight. Maybe you should give it to dad.”
He drank it without another complaint.
The freezing weather had me dreading the much needed shopping trip I was planning to do after dinner, but after a fun meltdown like that, I was more then happy to leave the four cuties home with dad and go peruse every aisle of two different grocery stores.
Who needs a trip to the spa when you can have a night at the grocery store all by yourself! It was so refreshing!
I did have to stop and get gas while I was out, and can I tell ya, I totally miss living in NJ during the winter months. Having someone else pump your gas when it’s freezing outside is such a luxury….but I did it all by myself today and almost didn’t even begrudge it because the price of gas is so decent right now. I can’t remember the last time I only spent $31.00 to fill my van.
Keep it Real!!!

I miss not pumping gas in the winter too! At least you still have ShopRite though. Jealous!

ShopRite is pretty great! We also have a huge brand new Wegmans by us and it’s awesome. Is there a Trader Joes anywhere near you guys? By near I mean within a two hour drive. 🙂
