If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
This was a full, and busy Thursday so I’m super tired, but I’m going to push through the sleepiness and get this post up jiffy quick!
{I took most of the pictures with my phone and had to figure out how to get them off my phone and onto the computer so I could post them….for a tech-spaz like me that was a bit painful, but I did it and I am a bit proud of myself}
So, first of all, I have some exciting news….We bought our first house yesterday!!!!!!
We’ve been married for over 10 years, but we were scared to buy because we have moved around so much, but the time is finally right and we couldn’t be happier.
We closed yesterday and we want to get a bunch of painting done before we move in, so I wasted no time and got over there today while Charlotte was at preschool. I took the pack and play so I could put Trever down for a nap and get some spakling done.
I got it all done, but not without a couple blood blisters from the pliers I used to get the nails out of the walls. I may or may not need a lesson on how to use pliers.
I got in almost two hours of work and then ran to get Charlotte at preschool, I had a big list of things I needed to get done today and was off to a good start….
A few of my friends were planning on going to a really fun Amish Market for lunch and I had told myself last night I couldn’t go because I had too much to get done….
Somehow I accidentally ended up at the Amish Market….
There’s always tomorrow, right.
That place was pretty darn fun. I ate a ton of things I really shouldn’t have {I’m doing a weight-loss challenge right now} and I even found some spices I’ve been meaning to pick up that were like a hundred times cheaper then they are at the regular store.} —-not all of the spices were cheaper then they are the regular store, you have to be careful.
I just love a little time out with friends. I apparently love these girls a lot because I’m putting up the picture that they all look good in even though I look better in the other one…..If I would’ve known I was going to accidentally end up at the Amish Market with friends I might have at least put on a bit of mascara…..
We spent a good deal of time at the Amish Market and Trever was starting lose it about an hour and twenty minutes in. I knew he just wanted to nurse, but I was trying to get just a little more time out of him.
While I was buying my things, he was really losing it. Out of desperation I hurriedly handed him the closest thing which happened to be a little cup of cheese (it had a lid) that had come with Charlotte’s pretzel.
How much damage could he possibly do with that in 20 seconds while I finished paying?
Turns out, quite a bit….
I just found out he can take the lid off of little cups of cheese.
Tonight Sim and I both had places we needed to be. Sim had basketball and I had a church activity.
The plan was for Sim to take the older boys and I would keep Charlotte and Trever with me.
Sim called me from work shortly before the time he usually leaves to tell me that something was wrong with his car. It gave him a lot of trouble on his way to work this morning and a friend happened to have one of those computer things that tell you what is wrong with your car, so they ran a test on it, and he needed to stop and get a part on his way home.
I couldn’t figure out why he was in such a panic about getting the car fixed tonight. Then I realized it was because he REALLY wanted to go play basketball and wanted to make sure it would be safe to drive that far.
He got it fixed in less then an hour….can I just say how rocking awesome it is have a husband who knows how to fix cars. He has saved us a lot of money over the years.
While he was fixing the car, I was hurrying to throw something together for dinner. I wasn’t even hungry yet because I ate SOOO much at the Amish Market.
I tried something new and put chopped up chicken strips, broccoli and cheese on tortillas and served them like tacos. Everyone LOVED it and said they could have eaten three more and they definitely want me to make them again.
Definitely going on the list of “dinners for crazy nights.”
….I also put out some strawberries and mini bell peppers (Charlotte and Thatcher love peppers) and lettuce for a salad if anyone felt so inclined.
We only had about 20 minutes to hurry and sit down and eat as a family before we all had to go in different directions.
My church activity was a fun night for all the ladies about gardening and we also celebrated the Relief Society‘s Birthday!
They even set up a cute photo booth. I didn’t get a chance to jump in a picture… but I snapped this one really quick of some of my friends…too fun!
,They had a nursery room for kids at my meeting. I was planning on putting Charlotte in there, but I was expecting to have Trever with me the whole time. When we got there they offered to take Trever in there too, so I decided to give it a shot.
He actually did really well, I peeked in on him a couple times and he was playing happily.
When the meeting was almost over I heard a sound that I am very familiar with.
Crying.
I knew immediately it was Trever, as I got closer to the Nursery Room I realized it was both of my kids.
Poor Charlotte, who has a bruised tailbone (remember last weeks post, we figured out what was wrong) fell on her bum and landed on a Lego, which really hurts if you already have a very sore tailbone. Ouch. She was in legit pain and I was worried we would just have to leave because she wouldn’t calm down. It was pretty awesome because Trever was also screaming at the same time.
I remembered seeing that there were cupcakes for refreshments so I asked my friend who was in charge if Charlotte could have one to check and see if eating it would make her bum feel better. Melissa is a super nice and said yes, and it turns out that cupcakes do make bruised tailbones feel better.
She was able to calm down and go back in the nursery.
Trever on the other hand was not letting me out of his sight.
Multiple people offered to hold him or reached for him and that little rascal wiggled away from them or clung to me like a little monkey….I was hoping we would skip the cling-on stage, but when he is tired he is turning into a MAJOR mama’s boy.
I love it and hate it at the same time. It seems like there are a few aspects of motherhood that fit into that love it and hate it category, but luckily most of them lean pretty far to the love it side.
Keep it Real!!!
Maria
