If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
Tonight we had dinner guests. Every couple weeks we invite the missionaries from our church over for dinner. Today when they called to confirm Elder Chang (from China) informed me that the missionary he served with had been very ill and had to return home today so he would be coming to dinner with someone else.
He came with a nice young man from our church, but he was a little camera shy so all you can see is his knee in the picture.
We had Cheesy Broccoli and Baked Potato Soup and Rolls for dinner. It was a rainy day here so I was compelled to bake rolls and make soup. I also tried a recipe that has been kicking around in my head for a while.
I used my Pampered Chef Deep Covered baker and made a Banana Cake in it that formed it’s own sauce while it cooked. It was pretty great. The pictures came out pretty unattractive but everyone loved it so despite it’s un-attractiveness it has been deemed blog worthy and I will get it up in the near future.
The missionaries always share a spiritual thought with us before they leave. Thatcher insisted on everyone singing a song tonight as well….he wanted to accompany us on the piano. It was quite hilarious, all of us trying to stay on tune, while he was playing nonsense notes. He eventually had to be physically removed from the piano….
My kids were actually driving me crazy while the missionaries were at our house. The Three older children were in full show-off mode and Trever was over tired and doing his best and loudest Pterodactyl impression during the entire visit. My ears were ringing by the time they left.
I snapped a couple other pictures during the day that are pretty typical to our Everyday “real life.” In no particular order….
Conner getting distracted from what he is supposed to be doing and picking the most un- opportune time to do something he has been meaning to do for days or weeks. (pictured here he is dicing up an apple for his hamster because he read in the book he got from the library that hamsters can have apples and he thinks she would really like it for a treat.) Of course she would and what better time to add to the mess of the kitchen then when mom is finishing up dinner and we have guest coming over……..
Charlotte holding Trever for “just three minutes.” All.day.long she asks me if she can hold Trever for “just three minutes.” I’m not sure where she got the three minute thing, but as you can see Trever feels a little nervous and gives me the “help please” look when Charlotte holds him for “just three minutes” or any minutes for that matter.
He did however enjoy the raspberry kisses she gave him today. So cute!
And this might be my favorite picture from the day….this is what I like to call VELCRO HANDS. Those little fingers have a way of getting tangles in my hair 15 times a day and I swear they are made of super strength velcro. Charlotte got a taste of it today and was asking for help while I, of course, took the photo opp. 🙂
Keep it Real!!!
