If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
Tonight I made a yummy recipe that I needed to remake and take pictures of so I can post it on the blog. They are Sausage and Pepper Lasagna Rolls ups.
I chopped the red and green peppers and the onion up really tiny before sauteing it with the sausage and my kids didn’t even notice them in the filling mixture….I have one child that is picky about chunks of red peppers….that particular child (Conner) at three helpings.
Since I had to take a quick picture before we could eat, I thought I would show you how glamorous that whole endeavor is.
In this house the spot with the best lighting especially at 5:30 is in front of the front door. I use a white science fair project board to reflect light back on the food and a large wooden cutting board to put everything on. Most food bloggers have tri-pods and other special things that help them take great pictures but those things don’t fit into my “real life” so this is the best I can do. I take about a thousand pictures and hope that one turns out semi decent.
I also always wonder the whole time I am taking pictures if the old man that lives across the street sees me out there taking pictures of food all the time and if he thinks I’m crazy.
There is usually one child climbing on my back or sticking their fingers in the food while I am trying to take pictures (Charlotte), or one child begging to take a picture of the food (Thatcher). Today however everyone was playing outside and didn’t even know I was taking pictures until I was done and I told them to come and eat.
Can you see the white board and the food by my husbands feet. Super glamorous I tell ya!
Thatcher always wants to eat the “picture plate.”
Thatcher is one of my biggest fans and after taking a bite of almost everything I make, he says, “MMMmmm, put it on the blog mom.” Tonight was no exception, he loved it and wants me to put in on the blog ASAP.
Putting recipes on the blog didn’t happen this week because guess what…..my computer crashed on Monday. Boo. I actually just got it back tonight.
And because it is Halloween Eve, I have to share the pumpkins my husband and kids carved last night. (I hate to carve pumpkins and try to make myself scarce when it happens.)
Thatcher chose to do a Minecraft pumpkin and Conner wanted to make one that looks like it is throwing up. Interesting……
Keep it Real!!!

I remember the time we came to dinner and you took a plate out on the deck for a picture before we ate. LOL I’m sure the neighbors love you, even if you do strange things with your food.
Maria
bwahaha, I forgot about that Kim! Yes, it’s a running joke at family get togethers….”Hey Maria, did you get a picture of this?”
