Diner tonight was spaghetti, but not just any spaghetti. It was Tyler’s Spaghetti from the book, Tyler Makes Spaghetti.
Last week my husband took the kids to the library. They came back with a book about a little boy who loves the spaghetti and meatballs at a restaurant he goes to with his family. The chef teaches him how to make it and then it has the real recipe at the end.
Every day since they have begged me to make the recipe with them. I kept forgetting to get fresh basil at the store (I would have just substituted dry basil, but Conner insisted the “leaves” were a really important part of the recipe.) Well, last night I made spaghetti for dinner (not with meatballs and definitely not Tyler’s Spaghetti) and when the boys came up they were like hey, I thought we were going to make Tyler’s spaghetti and meatballs. Oops! Dang, can’t pull the wool over their eyes.
I told them how I kept forgetting to get the basil and we could make it another day. Conner was like, “Mom, do you think you would have time to get the leaves tomorrow and we could make it for dinner tomorrow night.” He asked so nicely I had to say yes…..so here we are on our second day in a row having spaghetti and the recipe for Tyler’s Spaghetti made so much, the boys have already told me they want to have it tomorrow. Yippee!
Here are some fun pictures my husband took of our cooking adventure. Those boys sure love to cook.
The boys loved it, especially making the meatballs and chopping things up!
When we sat down to eat they ate and ate and ate. Conner was so funny. I was complementing them on how good dinner was and he says, “Yeah Mom, this is like even better then when you make it, but yours is still good too.” Thanks honey.
Keep it Real!
