Wow! What an experience. I attended my first blog conference this weekend in Salt Lake City. It was the Build Your Blog Conference that the sister’s from Six Sister’s Stuff put on each year.
It was a lot of fun and I met so many incredible ladies! I also ate a lot of great food, which of course made me super happy! Here are the pictures I took while I was there.
Friday, after registering, I tried to find some people who wouldn’t mind letting a crazy girl like me hang out with them. These ladies (pictured below) were all so friendly and let me tag along with them to City Creek Mall where we went to a Meet and Greet held at Albion and then we went to lunch at the Blue Lemon! It was delicious! I had the Oriental Chicken Salad and some sweet potato fries
Later that night we went to a Yummy Steak Dinner at Christopher’s Steakhouse in Salt Lake. It was Filet Mignon with Shrimp, Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. (I ate it before I thought about taking a picture) oops!
The dessert choices were Raspberry Cheesecake or Chocolate Torte. I chose the torte it was delicious! I sat by Aimee from, Like Mother Like Daughter and Allison from Cupcake Diaries, at dinner.
After dinner we hurried back to the conference for “Speed Dating.” There were about 40 companies and sponsors set up at tables for us to go around to and speak with and give our information too. I was especially excited to talk to Taste of Home Ad Network.
These two pictures show how crazy it was. At this point in the day, after walking more then I have in a while and wearing my cute brown boots all day, my legs and feet had just found out they were done. I went around to about 25 of the 40 presenters and then headed back to my hotel to take a quick shower and rest my legs before meeting up with some bloggers for a late night chat.
The next morning we needed to be at the conference by 9:00 am. I had stayed up pretty late talking to the fun girls at my motel and with my legs achy from the day before, I didn’t sleep very well at all. But who cares I was there to party. I can sleep later! Right?
Everyone was buzzing about this Waffle Love truck that would be out front of the conference for anyone who wanted to buy one for breakfast. It sounded good, but our hotel had breakfast and I wasn’t sure how my tummy, with no sleep, would do if I started the day off with a sugary waffle. But if you know me at all, you will know that I couldn’t handle not tasting it after hearing all the rave that was going on about it.
Well guess what! My roommate said she would save me a seat while I went in to check my baggage at the front desk, when I cam out she came to me with a sad face and said, “I am so sorry. They just said they are going to stop making them. I got the last one.”
BUMMER! I decided to try something. I put on my most charming smile and went up and told the college age kid working in the truck that I was from Maryland and there was a really good chance I would never see a Waffle Love truck again, and even if he just had a broken one or a piece of one that I could taste I would buy it! He looked at me and said. “Don’t worry, I’ll make you one.” YEAH! IT WORKED
Just look at that tasty waffle. I now understand what all the hype was about. They really are FABULOUS! The dough is slightly yeasty a little bit like a doughnut or something and it has a sweet sugary crusty-ness going on on the outside. So good!!!
This is Melissa from My Mommy Style. She is such a sweetheart and has an interesting story on her blog that I had read a few months back. When I met her I was like, “That was you?”
I was really hoping to meet Amy from, Little Dairy on the Prairie. She is a new blogger like me and has the cutest site with lots of yummy meals and treats!
Before I left Saturday, I took one last picture with these cute girls, Aimee, from Like Mother Like Daughter, me, Amber from, Dessert Now Dinner Later, and Yvonne from Tried and Tasty. Good times. There were so many other amazing people that I met and didn’t get a chance to get a picture with. I learned so much and had a great time getting to know more bloggers!
However, I do think it is going to take me a week to recover from the sleep deprivation and the brain overload! But it was totally worth it!
Keep it Real!

It looks like it was a great conference! I’ve never had one of those waffles, but I’ve heard a lot about them. I might have to make a trip to Salt Lake one of these days to try them out. I’m so glad that you had a good time!

It was fun. The waffles were super tasty! If you and Colby get a night away for your anniversary this year you should hunt them down in the morning. 🙂
