My Aunt Gwen, who is one of the coolest people alive, would bring Italian Sodas as a special treat to our family reunion when I was a youngster. I have taken it upon myself to introduce this fabulous drink to as many people as possible, and I make it often for guests. (You should seriously invite yourself over for dinner sometime! I’ll make you one!)
This summer my little family road-tripped all the way out to Utah and back. Not a trip for the faint of heart with a feisty little 18-month-old, but we all made it in one piece. (I was only missing a few strands of hair that I pulled out somewhere near Denver.) Anywho, on our way home, we stopped to see some of our best friends in Kansas. So, of course, I HAD to make them Italian Sodas. They were a hit!
Moral of the story: You must use all your power to search your local grocer and find some Torani Syrups. You will love these simple sodas and so will whoever is lucky enough to have you make them one. Just watch out, if you give a guest an Italian Soda, they are going to want…….another one!
- Ice, crushed or cubed works best
- Toranin Syrup, flavor(s) of choice
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Club Soda
- Straws
- Fill a large (12 oz) clear glass or cup with Ice
- Add 2-3 tbsp syrup of your choice
- Add 1-2 tbsp cream
- Add 1 cup Club Soda
- Using a straw begin gently blowing bubbles in to cup until drink has completely mixed and syrup is no longer visible on the bottom of your glass
- Drink it up and make another
Keep it Real!
How have I never had one of these?!?! All of those games nights and you never made me one? Maybe it was because we were poor and struggled to even buy milk…okay, you get a free pass this time. But seriously, those look awesome! You know I’m getting some of those syrups the next time I’m at the store.
Ha ha! Two reasons. Being Poor, definately! And also, I had a hard time finding the syrups back then. They are more popular now and are usually in the grocery store over by the coffee section. They are so fun! You will love them and your boys will LOVE blowing bubbles to mix them up.
We just made these for a New Years Eve party with our kids. They loved them!
We had them last night too! Thanks for taking time to leave a comment to let me know! I am so glad your kids loved them. Mine love them as well. I had to cut them off at three. 🙂
OMG!! These look so yummy but I haven’t been able to find the Toranin Syrup.
Do you happen to know if it could be ordered from the company. Thanks ever so much for sharing all these great recipes. I’ve been going through recipe magazines lately & also getting some online so I haven’t had the time to make anything but hubby has been very willing to try some of the great ones I’ve found. Thank heavens he loves to bake & cook meals and I taught him everything I know about it & people rave about his results so I’m able to take a little credit too.Your children are so cute!! I have 4 children but they are grown now & have given me 12 grandchildren & one great-grandchild & I just love kids so please keep sharing your pics. I love seeing them.
You’re so sweet! I am not sure if you can order directly from the company, but you should be able to order them from Amazon. How fun that your husband likes to cook. Mine is getting better and better at it and is getting more brave about trying new recipes. Love hearing about your family! Have a great Holiday Season!
