Getting dinner on the table in time for Dad and Thatcher to get to practice tonight, meant ignoring all the mess on the floor and working at warp speed to get dinner made.
We had Creamy Bacon Spaghetti, green beans and sliced pears. I used some frozen/leftover Amazing Spaghetti Sauce and just fried little pieces of bacon in the pan before I added the sauce and then added about 1/4 a cup of cream to the sauce once it was simmering.
I will get back to the rest of the night in a minute, but right now I need to tell you about my new faucet! Love it!
I’m doing a sponsored post for Delta about their Touch20 faucets. I picked out one that I thought would work best in our kitchen and it came last night. I was so excited! Sim installed it last night and it was fun to see the kids reactions this morning. Thatcher was instantly in love and didn’t complain once about his unloading/loading the dishwasher job this morning because he got to spray off the dishes with the new faucet. He is also a huge fan of the soap dispenser and I am pretty sure he has been getting his hands extra dirty all day on purpose so he can keep washing them.
Charlotte was also impressed….
…and lets just say Mommy Like-y!
Conner is also Team Touch20 Faucet but somehow I missed getting a picture of him with it .
Once everyone stopped hugging and kissing the faucet this morning, Trever and I got everyone off to school and headed to the gym. I did a spin class and then we headed to pick up Charlotte and Alivia at preschool. Charlotte has been so excited for the last two days because Alivia had invited her to come make a gingerbread house today after preschool. It was the first things she said when she woke up this morning, so you can guess that when I picked those two little cuties up at preschool they were so excited.
Another friend Lauren came to Alivias too. And they made some super cute gingerbread houses.
After I dropped Charlotte off at Alivia’s I ran to the grocery store to get a few ingredients I needed to make the recipe for the sponsored post I am doing for the Delta Faucet. I needed to hurry so that I could get Trever down for nap a little early so that he could get a good nap in before we had to go pick Thatcher up and take him to an orthodontist appointment.
Well, this morning when I left the house I couldn’t find my wallet and realized I had left it in Sim’s car last night. Knowing this I had taken my checkbook with me hoping that the grocery store still accepted archaic things, like checks, as payment.
Trever and I quickly go the things we needed and headed to the checkout line. The women in front of us has a huge load but it looked like it was down to the last 20 items so I felt safe getting in that line. (the store seemed surprisingly busy for 11:30 am) Another mother with a few items got in line behind me. She had two children with her.
It took much longer then expected for the women in front of me to get totally checked out and Trever was screaming and trying his best to crawl out of my arms at this point. I was thinking…”How in the world am I going to write a check with him acting like this?” He was tired and hungry and reaching and crying for all of the candy bars/treats on the side of the checkout lane.
Well when it was finally my turn and I managed to get the check written out, the cashier was having trouble getting it to read. She had me scan my driver’s license about thirty times, but that didn’t seem to do anything so she finally asked the cashier next to heru who also had 3 or more people in her lane.
She pushed the button to have a “manager” come over but no one was coming. After about five minutes of nothing happening the women behind me (who looked like a kind reasonable person) started to get a little upset. She, in an angry voice, told anyone who came near our line, “Um, You’re gonna want to get in another lane, Don’t come to this one, She’s got a problem and it’s taking forever.” She was feeling super put out. Granted, I’ve had days where standing behind the coupon queen or whoever it might be that is holding up the line, is just a little more than you needed…but, I try really hard to just keep my mean or negative comments to myself. I wasn’t exactly having fun either, I mean Trever the crying monkey is not super fun to entertain in a small lane of candy bars and gum.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the neighboring cashier came over and did some magic and everything went through and I was on my way.
That took longer then I wanted it to so I had to hurry to keep my schedule of trying to get Trever down and taking care of the things I needed to prep so I could take pictures of things for the sponsored post while there was still daylight. …and I was hoping to sneak in a shower and lunch myself.
I quickly got Trev a sandwich and was straightening the kitchen really quick while he ate. Then I saw it, out of the corner of my eye. The Lunch Box. Conner had left his lunch box. Dang it!
I quickly called the school to see if his class had gone to lunch yet. They didn’t go for another 12 minutes so Trever and I ran it over as quick as we could and ran back hoping not to miss Alivia’s mom bringing Charlotte home. They were waiting out front when we pulled up.
Charlotte was super proud of her gingerbread house and nibbled on it while I quickly put Trever down for nap and made her lunch. When she finished eating I put her down for a short nap, jumped in the shower and then made myself a yummy tuna sandwich with my onion bagel I had grabbed while I was at the store. YUM!
After I ate I finished prepping things for the pictures I needed to take. At 2:40 I woke up the kids and got them in the car so we could go pick up Thatcher and take him to the Orthodontist.
When we got home the boys helped me make the Sweet Chili Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnut Appetizer I created for the sponsored post.
They had a lot of fun getting their “hands dirty” with me.
When we were finished Thatcher asked if he could have a granola bar that he found in the fridge. I said yes, but after he tried to bite it he decided it needed to go in the microwave because it was too cold.
I didn’t notice that he had put it in and kept thinking I smelled peanut butter, I made peanut butter cookies last night though and had just turned on the oven to preheat so I figured maybe a piece of a cookie had fallen in last night or something. Then I heard the ding of the microwave and it all came back to me.
This is what a peanut butter fiber one bar looks like when you microwave it for a whole minute. At least he only did one minute. He thought it was great until he tried to eat it and it was hard as a rock and wouldn’t budge off the plate. HA! I am pretty sure we are just going to have to throw that plate away.
Mmm. but look at these delicious Sweet Chili Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts. I love the spiciness from the sweet chili sauce. I hurried and made dinner while these were cooking. I was planning on taking them to our Book Club Christmas Party tonight but when they came out the boys were dying to eat some and since they had helped I let them each have a few. There were only about 15-20 left for book club so I hurried and mixed up a batch of Homemade Toffee to take with it.
While I was doing that, Dad was trying to leave with Thatcher but some of the other children were reluctant to let him leave. You can’t see Trever’s face but, boy o boy was he sad about Dad leaving.
Conner had dishes tonight and was happy to do them with the new faucet. In fact he was in such a good mood he was singing the Star Spangled Banner. I was in the bathroom giving Charlotte and Trever a bath but could her him loud and clear…he actually has a nice voice. I popped my head out and told him it sounded great.
He then told me he really wished he could get the hymnbook and put it in the window so he could sing the last verse since he doesn’t have it memorized.
I got it for him, since his hands were wet, and he proceeded to sing the whole song again starting with the first verse. The third verse got a little interesting even with the words right in front of him. He was taking some pretty big liberties with the melody.
It’s official my life is a HappiMess and I love it.
…most of the time.
Keep it Real!
