These Blackened Salmon Tacos are packed with a smoky spice that pairs well with the sweet, tropical flavors of the salsa. They are delicious, healthy, and perfect for meal planning and prepping if you have leftover salmon from making Salmon Bowls.

My friends, Mike and Heather, served us salmon tacos with a mango salsa while my daughter, Charlotte, and I were visiting them in Hawaii. Inspired by them, I knew I wanted to make them when we got home.

  • You can cook the salmon in a frying pan or on a grill. I opt for baking it in the oven, so I can throw it in and forget about it.
  • The recipe can be cut in half.
  • You can use fresh or bottled lemon juice.
  • If you like it really spicy, use 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper or ground chipotle.
  • For more texture and flavor, heat the corn tortillas rubbed with a little olive oil in a frying pan.
  • Make Salmon Bowls with the leftover salmon.

Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
  • 2 lbs salmon filet
  • 2 tsp lemon juice, fresh or bottled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp light brown sugar
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¾ tsp onion powder
  • â…›-1/4 tsp cayenne pepper or ground chipotle (optional)
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp dried thyme
  • Corn Tortillas
  • Mango Avocado Salsa
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Place the salmon filet on the baking sheet. Drizzle the lemon juice on top of the filet, and then evenly pour and rub the olive oil on it.
  4. Next, in a small bowl, mix together the paprika, smoked paprika, salt, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (optional), dried oregano, and dried thyme. Evenly sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the salmon.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  6. While the salmon is baking, prepare the Mango Avocado Salsa.
  7. Next, put a tiny bit of oil on each corn tortilla and heat them in a medium frying pan until there are little brown spots on both sides.
  8. When the salmon is done baking, break it apart into flakes.
  9. Prepare the tacos by adding a scoop of salmon flakes and top them with the salsa.
  10. Store leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
