If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.
I really don’t have time to be writing this tonight, but when I started this, I promised myself I would never miss a Thursday night post…so I’ll make this quick.
We are leaving at 8 am tomorrow morning for a month long trip to visit family in Utah. We are driving…with a newborn and a two year old….yes we are crazy! Anywho, leaving means we have been trying to eat up everything in our fridge for the last couple of days. Tonight I needed to get rid of all the veggies and we had some tortillas and cheese that needed used up too, so I decided to make veggie breakfast burritos. Worked out great.
This morning I took Trever to get his upper lip (frenulum) laser-ed. I finally went in to see the lactation consultants last Saturday, because the nursing nightmare I mentioned last week wasn’t getting any better. Turned out his upper lip connection was too tight and he needed to have it snipped (which these days means laser-ed.)
I forgot my camera so I didn’t get any pictures of it. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I kind of wish I would have left the room. It smelled like burning flesh and when I looked over at one point it was super gross and looked terrible, and I felt so bad about putting him through this. But tonight it looks pretty good and HOLY COW, I can’t believe the difference I already feel with nursing. This could make for a happier mamma around here.
Tonight when Sim was holding him, he looked down and saw that Trever had his thumb in his mouth. Too cute! I think it was an accident and he couldn’t figure it out again if he tried, but he sucked on it for quite a while. (This picture really shows how nicely his top lip comes up now when he is sucking.) It also shows his goopy eye, poor baby has blocked tear ducts in both eyes.
Today was also the last day of school. Can’t believe how fast time flew by. Well, there was a long stretch there in the winter months……but seriously the saying, “The days are long but the years are fast” is so true.
To celebrate the last day of school, the fifth graders line up and blow bubbles while the kids come out to board the bus. I didn’t even know about it the last two years. This year, Conner really wanted me to come and take pictures and see how cool it is.
Of course it had to be a rainy day today and of course I had to wake Charlotte up from nap to get there in time and of course there were like thirty million parents who got there before me so I could barely see anything or get any decent shots. But hey, I was there.
This picture reminds me of Where’s Waldo. Thatcher was hilarious. He was eating it up, feeling like he was on the red carpet, waving to all of his adoring fans.
Happy Summer!
Keep it Real!!!
