Sweet Chili Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts with Delta Faucet
One of our favorite appetizers are those yummy little bacon wrapped water chestnuts. As much as I love them I’ve always wished they had a little spice factor going on with that delicious smokiness, so this year I teamed up with my big boys and came up with a recipe that still delivers the nice salty, smokey crunch, but is complimented with the perfect amount of sweet heat.
Sure, letting the boys help increased the mess factor by about 100 percent, but seeing how happy cooking with Mom makes them, I’m happy to live with a the bigger mess.
…Especially now that I have a Delta Touch20 Faucet with Touch Technology.
To make our Sweet Chili Bacon Wrapped Chestnuts we had handle raw bacon as we wrapped it around water chestnuts that had been soaked in soy sauce. Then we dipped them in brown sugar, so not only did we have raw meat gunk on our hands, our hands were also super sticky.
A combination that normally would cause me to feel very anxious, feeling like the boys would get grubby raw meat germs all over the faucet while they were cleaning up their hands
Being able to easily reach over and tap the faucet with our wrists or the back of our hands to keep from spreading the raw meat germs, was AMAZING!

- With Touch2O® Technology, you can simply tap anywhere on the spout or handle of the faucet to precisely start and stop the flow of water. The faucets are available for your kitchen and bathroom. Delta faucets with Touch2O Technology were designed to make life easier when your hands are messy or full. They were the first touch-sensitive faucets of their kind.
Am I the only person out there who gets legit anxiety about turning their faucet on with “raw meat hand?” This faucet is a dream come true. I felt way more patient letting the kids handle raw meat and I didn’t feel like I had to scrub down the faucet with bleach wipes after we were done.
I couldn’t believe how much calmer I was about having them in the kitchen making a “mess” with me. I think I need to change my attitude about “mess.”
-
- Somewhere along the way, mess got a bad reputation. But that’s not really fair. Mess is the evidence of a life well lived and means we’re out there making, creating, doing and playing. Delta’s HappiMess platform encourages everyone to embrace life’s messiest moment’s with confidence, knowing Delta kitchen and bath innovations will be there to help cleanup.
We cleaned up the kitchen and did dishes while we waited for our Sweet Chili Bacon Wrapped Chestnuts to finish cooking. We had fun laughing and the boys wanted me to tell them stories about Christmas when I was a little girl.
Sharing time together in the Kitchen with my boys is my happy place, even doing the dishes is fun when we are doing it together and we get to use our Delta Touch20 Faucet. The boys were practically fighting over who could do the dishes, and, I may or may not have been entertaining them by turning it on with different parts of my face.

I seriously want one of those faucets – perfect when your hands are covered in raw meat! As for the recipe, I could easily eat a dozen of these appetizers.

Every cook needs this faucet. It’s the bomb and the appetizers….yeah, they’re dangerous.
