- First, make the smash burger sauce by whisking together the mayonnaise, ketchup, minced pickles, mustard, paprika, and garlic powder. Taste, and add more spices, if desired. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve for the spices to meld together.
- Next, in a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and break it up with a meat chopper.
- Season the ground beef with your choice of seasonings and cook until browned and fully cooked, approximately 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare bowls by adding chopped lettuce or rice to the bottom, then a scoop of ground beef, add toppings of your choice, and drizzle the smash burger sauce on top.

- Make the Copycat Smash Burger Sauce first so the spices can meld together. Put it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. The recipe makes 2 cups. If you like extra sauce, double the recipe. You can make the sauce the day before for easy prep.
- If you don’t want or like smash burger sauces, add ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc., when serving.
- For a spicy burger, use Cajun seasoning in the ground beef.
- Use an 80/20 ground beef blend for a moister, more flavorful hamburger. Be sure to drain the grease off.
