If you are new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what the heck’s going on around here. If you have been to this rodeo before, let’s get down to business.
I knew today was a soup day after hearing the weather report! I opted for Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup with Five Minute Homemade Egg Noodles.
I forget how much my kids LOVE this soup (as you can tell by the creepy stare Conner is giving it in the picture below.) I should have doubled it, The pot was pretty much licked clean and they were asking if we could have it again tomorrow. Sorry kids, mom already has a plan to make BBQ Chicken Ranch Pizza tomorrow…..I have been craving it like crazy!
It’s hard to believe it is January already let alone 2014.
I try to make a few goals every year, but must admit I rarely see them through. I decided that maybe if I shared the goals I have set for this year with you, maybe I would feel more accountable to reach them. I tried to be realistic, since I’m pregnant and tired, but still challenge myself. Here is what I have come up with for the year.
I broke it up into four different categories:
Personal:
- Read the Book of Mormon Cover to Cover by December 15, 2014
- Read three non-fiction books
- Intentionally do something kind for each member of my family at least once a day
- Make and order Thatcher and Charlotte’s Baby books by January 2oth
Family:
- Have Family Prayer twice a day
- Have Family Scripture Study everyday
- Designate one day a month for a whole family activity away from the house
- Get Conner in piano lessons by the end of February
- Do flashcards with kids 4 times a week. Sight words with Thatcher and Add and Subtract with Conner.
Fitness:
- (Me) Go to the Y 4-5 times a week and walk for 30 minutes on treadmill and do 20 minutes of stretching.
- (Kids) Take boys swimming or to play basketball/soccer 2 times a week
- (Sim) Make it possible for Sim to go to basketball every Thursday and to the Y 1-2 times during the week.
Blog Goals:
- Make at least 10 solid connections with other bloggers in my nitch at the BYOB Conference in February.
- Double traffic by March 30th
- Post 3-4 times a week
Like I said, these aren’t anything earth shattering and it is more than a little embarrassing to admit that I have to make it a goal in order to stay on top of flashcards and remembering to put my kid in piano, but hey, that’s real life!
I hope you’ve taken a little time to write down a few goals for the new year.
I will keep you posted on my progress with mine throughout the year!
Keep it Real!

P.S. I found a great deal on Shutterfly for 50% off photo books. The deal is good until Tuesday the 7th. The coupon code is NYDEALS……and I am in no way affiliated with Shutterfly, just wanted to pass on the good deal I intend on using.
Um – if those are modest goals, I really need to beef up my list! 🙂 Great idea breaking them up in to categories!
I did think about just having one goal this year….SURVIVE….but I decided to give these a shot. We will see how I do, I really am hoping that sharing them publicly will help me stay accountable. 🙂
