If you’re new here, read my first What’s for Dinner post to get filled in on what’s going on. If you’ve been to this rodeo before, let’s get to business.I feel bad for my family on days when I eat a huge lunch. Like today for example, I ate a big meal from Panda Express which I chased with half a pint of my favorite Scrape The Bowl ice cream. I was so stuffed! By the time dinnertime came around I had no motivation to make dinner, because I wasn’t the slightest bit hungry yet.
Hence, leftover night….
Luckily I have actually been making decent dinner’s this week so there were some legit leftovers to choose from.Homemade Mac and Cheese, Stuffed Pepper Skillet, Bean and Rice Burritos…there would have been some Tator Tot Casserole, but I ate that for breakfast. We also had some veggies and dip and they could choose apple slices or a banana.
I tried to pretend I was eating with them and gobbled up most of the veggies and dip. I just love this Ranch Dip.
Charlotte was not impressed with the choices at first. In this picture I was asking her if she wanted each different thing. “Do you want Mac and Cheese?” “Do you want a burrito? “……..Can you tell by that face that she is saying. “No, I do not.” She woke up from nap on the wrong side of her crib and was quite the cranky pants for the rest of the evening.
Conner is finally feeling better. He actually felt like helping out around the house and doing his normal chores. HOORAY! He really is a champ at the dishes, and with a side kick like Thatcher rinsing and stacking the dishes, how could you not want to do the dishes after dinner.
Don’t be fooled. They look so sweet working side by side like that. Looking at this picture you would think they might even be having a sweet conversation. HA! Conner had just said, “Thatcher, stop it, that pan is not a musical instrument.” (Thatcher was tapping the pie tin he was rinsing with a spoon.) How dare he! (and yes, there really is that much crap above my sink on a daily basis #givemeaflatsurfaceandIwillcoveritwithjunk)
Can someone please tell me why in the heck I ever feed my kids rice. Allow me to point out that the majority of the mess is where the oldest child was sitting….seriously????
I hate cleaning up rice. Unfortunately all three kids absolutely LOVE it and Sim and I like it too, so it keeps making it’s way into 2-3 of our meals every week.! I usually just let it sit there until it dries out and is much easier to clean up, but sometimes I can’t handle seeing the mess.
I should’ve taken a picture of underneath the table, ugh! It is drying and one of them is going to have to use “Fido” our dust buster to get it in the morning….there ain’t no way this 8 month pregnant Mama is bending down to crawl around under the table.
After they finished the dishes, I let the boys go out on the porch with a popsicle. I looked out the window and noticed how cute it was (and rare) that they were sitting so peacefully next to each other. I just had to take a picture. I snuck out the back door and took one before they noticed. They heard the click and both turned around quickly and said, “HEY!” Conner added, “Mom, what are you doing? This is our time to relax and enjoy the sunset.” Alrighty then, sorry to interrupt. Beside sarcastically saying that I just wanted to document such a rare occurrence, all I could think to say was, “Oh, sorry, I just thought this would be a nice picture for our family to put in a scrapbook someday.”
When I was posting the picture tonight I couldn’t help but laugh, because it reminded me of something Conner said a few weeks ago. He’s a very literal child and sometimes the things that come out of his mouth……..
One night I was changing my clothes to go to a meeting at the church and when I walked down the hall he says. “Wow Mom, you are starting to look REALLY strong from the back.”
When I saw the picture of them sitting next to each other I couldn’t help but think, “Hmmm, Thatcher looks pretty strong from the back too.” 🙂
Keep it Real!!!
