From bars, cakes, and crisps to pies and cookies, this list of 30+ Sunday Desserts has something to sweeten your Sunday. Along with having a nice Sunday Dinner, Mom typically made a dessert on Sunday evenings. The ones I remember the most are Hello Dolly Bars, Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cake, and Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp.
More often than not, my mom would also make Chocolate Fudge on Sundays because she loves it so much. She likes to use stale marshmallows when making the fudge because they make the fudge stiffer. Another fun dessert we would make on Sundays is vinegar taffy. Maybe telling you this will motivate me to make this for my family and post it. 🙂
You don’t realize it, but when you have a nice Sunday dinner and dessert, you are creating lifelong nostalgia for your kids. It’s something that will become a treasured memory that your children will want to share with their families. Food really makes a memory stick. Whenever I have Hello Dolly Bar, I can see my mom in the kitchen crushing the graham crackers.
Sunday dessert is more than just making a treat for your family. It’s creating memories that your kids will carry with them for a long time and connect them to you when you are not there.
Great ideas!
