Whether you are trying to get more protein into your diet or not, this dip is a win. This Cilantro Ranch Protein Dip reminds me of the copycat Cafe Rio Cilantro Ranch Dressing. They have similar flavor profiles, but the dip is definitely thicker. It’s perfect for crackers, veggies, or chips.
Loaded with cottage cheese, avocado and cilantro, this dip is not only delicious but nutrient-dense. It’s so full of protein that 1/2 cup served with veggies is a quick and easy lunch.
My family loved it and is already asking when I will make it again.

Tips for How to Make Cilantro Ranch Protein Dip
- You could use the juice of a lime instead of a lemon. I haven’t tried it yet, but with the flavor profile, it might not make a difference. You may even prefer the flavor. Whichever one you choose, don’t leave the lemon/lime juice out. You need the acidity to bring out the other flavors.
- If you don’t have fresh garlic, you can use a tablespoon of jarred minced garlic.
- If you really like spicy foods, leave some jalapeno seeds in.
- You can use the spices of my Homemade Ranch Dip recipe in place of the Ranch dip packet. If you do, I recommend using 2 1/2 cups of cottage cheese and 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream.
- Use 3 tbsp of Ranch dip mix from a container in place of the packet.
