25 Family Christmas Movies and the Best Snacks to Eat with Them
1. THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS
Snack Idea: A nutcracker and unshelled nuts, like walnuts, pecans, or macadamia nuts. Chances are your kids have probably never used a nutcracker, and they will think this is really fun!
2. ARTHUR’S CHRISTMAS
Snack Idea: This movie is about a computer glitch, so grab your favorite kind of Nerds candy and cross your fingers that Arthur can fix the glitch in time for Christmas!
3. THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Snack Idea: Do you still have Halloween candy in the back of your cupboard? It’s the perfect snack for this fun movie! If you’ve still got some candy corn, mix it with some popcorn and peanuts for a yummy treat!
4. ELF
Snack Idea: One of our family’s favorite movies! We always laugh about how Buddy makes his spaghetti. For a snack, skip the noodles and chocolate sauce, but grab some M&Ms, marshmallows, candy corn, and Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tarts just like Buddy uses!
5. RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER
Snack Idea: Instead of a snack for this one, make these super cute and easy Reindeer Pancakes and have them for dinner either before or while you watch the snow.
6. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
Snack Idea: Make some Rice Krispy treats and put some green food coloring in before stirring in the Rice Krispies! Or you can make these yummy green Jello Sugar Cookies to stick with the green theme.
7. Klaus (This one is on Netflix)
Snack Idea: Warm up with some hot cocoa while watching this new Christmas movie. Our favorite hot chocolate is Stephen’s Hot Chocolate. Have you tried it? Mint is my favorite.
8. OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE
Snack Idea: This movie is all about traditions. Pick your family’s favorite Christmas tradition treat and make it for this movie. Two of our biggest traditions are Merry Widow Caramels and Gingerbread Cake.
9. A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Snack Idea: Scrooge loves his money! See if you can find some gold chocolate coins to make this movie snack extra fun.
10. A CHRISTMAS STORY
Snack Idea: Doing something with BB-like sprinkles would be funny! Also, there is a total gag gummy tongue you could all cut up and share!
11. FROSTY THE SNOWMAN
Snack Idea: Just because Frosty has to escape the warm weather doesn’t mean you can’t pretend you’re somewhere warm. These Pina Coladas are easy and so delicious!
12. THE POLAR EXPRESS
Snack Idea: Hot, hot, hot chocolate with marshmallows and your favorite cookie. Or you can make these super fun Graham Cracker Gingerbread Houses. These take a little prep. I like to put them together the night before.
If you are still reading, Congratulations!

13. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS
Snack Idea: Have a candy cane taste test for this one. Find some new flavors no one in your family has tried. If you’d rather have a homemade treat, everyone will love this Chewy Chex Mix.
14. the Christmas chronicles (this one is on Netflix)
Snack Idea: Grab a bag of these amazing white chocolate peppermint pretzel crisps. They taste just like Christmas. If you want to try making the homemade version, I’ve got a recipe on the blog.
15. HOME ALONE
Snack Idea: Gummy pizzas would be a fun, sweet snack to enjoy during this iconic Christmas movie. Or you could have dinner and a movie and eat pizza while you watch. If you want to take the homemade route, you’ll love my Homemade Pizza Dough recipe.
16. MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET
Snack Idea: My FAVORITE Christmas movie! They don’t really eat many treats in this movie, so I think it’s the perfect movie to play this treat game during. Put bowls with a few different Christmas candies out with small things like M&Ms, Skittles, or gummies. Pick a few words like Santa, believe, or mother, and tell the kids that every time they hear those words they can pick a treat.
17. MUPPET’S CHRISTMAS CAROL
Snack Idea: This is a great one for some special Christmas Marshmallow Caramel Corn.
18. IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE
Snack Idea: There’s a famous quote from the movie that’s about bread, salt, and wine. Grab a loaf of yummy French bread from the bakery, and let everyone rip off pieces to snack on during the movie. If you’d rather go with the salty part of the theme, you could pick a salty treat. My kids love this Microwave Party Chex Mix.
19. JINGLE ALL THE WAY
Snack Idea: This is another family favorite. And, of course, this one calls for making cookies. Pick your favorite Christmas cookie recipe and make cookies before or while you watch the movie. A couple of our favorite Christmas cookies are Chewy Gingersnap Cookies, Holiday Snowball Cookies, and the old faithful Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
20. WHITE CHRISTMAS
Snack Idea: Pick white treats for this one. Marshmallows, white yogurt-covered raisins, Snowball Cookies, white hot chocolate, eggnog, or any other white treat you can find.
21. THE SANTA CLAUSE
Snack Idea: Find some Santa-themed candies or some chocolate Santas for this one.
22. THE SANTA CLAUSE II
Snack Idea: Mix together some of your kids’ favorite sugary cereals with Christmas M&Ms and tell them it’s reindeer food. Or you can make this Best Ever Chewy Chex Mix. It can pass for reindeer food, too. Don’t worry. It’s DELICIOUS!
23. LITTLE WOMEN
Snack Idea: Old-fashioned candy for this one, folks! Get some old-fashioned hard candy, licorice, orange slices, and a bag of unshelled peanuts. Let your kids know that this is the kind of candy they would have gotten in their stockings, if they lived back then.
24. The star
Snack Idea: Did you know that Haribo makes a gummy mix called Starmix Gummi Candy? It’s a mix of their most popular gummies. I’m not sure if you can find it in the States, but it’s not a terrible price on Amazon for 12 bags. You can share with some friends.
25. the christmas chronicles ii (this one is on netflix)
Snack Idea: I haven’t seen this one yet, so I don’t really have a clue if there’s any food or anything to theme around it, but I’ve got two delicious snack options for you: Caramel Corn Puffs or Homemade Fudge would be perfect! Check out our favorite fudge recipes: Hershey Bar Fudge, Mint Fudge, Candy Bar Peanut Butter Fudge.
Love this idea of combining treats with the movie selection! I think the list is only missing some hallmark movies! Haha
